We offer the finest selection of Mountain Real Estate throughout Salidas Colorado and the areas that surround Chaffee and Fremont Counties in South Central Colorado Enjoy the small-town atmosphere and nearly ideal climate of the friendly village of Tularosa. Located only 30 miles from Ruidoso, a scenic mountain resort, and just minutes from Alamogordo.

St. Francis De Paula Mission Established 1865

History . . .
Tularosa was first settled in 1860 by farmers from the Mesilla Valley. In 1863, the original village-site of 49 blks. was mapped. In 1979 the "49 blks" was declared a historic district, and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Area Attractions . . .
Within a 30 minute drive you have the two mountain resort villages of Ruidoso and Cloudcroft. There you will find mountain lakes and streams, Lincoln National Forest, horse racing, 6 golf courses and skiing. Also only minutes away is the Mescalero Apache Reservation with Casino Gambling.

Amenities . . .
Tularosa's school system offers K-12 with the N.M.S.U. Alamogordo Branch only 12 miles distant. The village also has a new medical facility with physician and most of the other necessities found in a rural town of 2,900 people.

Climate . . .
Located at 4,500 feet at the base of the Sacramento Mountains, enjoy a 210 day growing season with average summer highs in the mid 90s and winter lows in the mid 30s. Average rainfall is 11 inches, snowfall 4.5 inches.

Water . . .
Irrigation water from the Rio Tularosa prompted the original settlers to choose Tularosa. An acequia or ditch system was developed which still provides irrigation water for the "49 blks" as well as area farms. This accounts for the "oasis" appearance of the village.

Location . . .
Tularosa is located in south-central New Mexico. Nearby towns/cities:  Ruidoso -- 30 miles, Alamogordo -- 12 miles, El Paso Texas -- 98 miles, Las Cruces -- 80 miles and Albuquerque -- 189 miles.
